Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located and what does the venue look like?
We are located at 8824 Slater Street, Cobourg, just north of the 401 off Baltimore Rd/Hwy 45. The ceremony location is on a small island amid a large pond. Everything around is very natural with lots of trees. There are snapping turtles in the pond. Fish and ducks frequent our land, along with many small critters (if you consider coyotes small!). We have deer around and once we had a moose grazing in our garden! In the late summer and fall we have a sunflower patch and a pumpkin patch.
How far in advance should I book with you?
It is best to book as soon as you decide to elope. Our late summer and fall times are very busy.
What days of the week do you operate?
We run elopements on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Most of our bookings are on the weekends. Alternate days can be discussed.
What is included in your package and what is the cost?
The cost for the elopement is $850 plus tax and includes approx 1 1/2 to 2 hours use of the property, a professional photographer (CatsMac Photography) with 20 digital images, a personalized ceremony performed by a licensed officiant, 2 witnesses (if you are not bringing your own), a decorated wedding gazebo, loan of a bouquet (if needed), wedding music (spotify), a signing table and props.
Do you have any add-ons to your package?
Yes, you may add on a 6" 2 tier wedding cake, an extra 20 digital images from our photographer and some beach photos at Cobourg Beach if you wish.
Can I bring my own Officiant?
Our officiant is part of the package and therefore we do not allow you to bring one.
Can I bring my own Photographer?
Again, our photographer (like the officiant) is part of the package and therefore we do not allow you to bring one. She knows the property well and is aware of all the areas that will make great photos.
How many people can I bring?
Beside the bride and groom, we allow up to 6 adults to come with you to witness your wedding. We do not allow children under the age of 12 due to our large pond and for insurance purposes.
What is our time allowance that day?
Generally speaking a standard elopement will be approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours, but times can vary due to add-ons, weather, number of guests and other variables. We will develop a custom timeline with you during the planning phase, so that you know exactly what to expect.
Can I do a first look?
Yes for sure. That's a wonderful idea.
What do you do in case of inclement weather?
We love to find the beauty and fun in most weather conditions, and our photographer totally agrees with us. We watch the radar carefully, and because it is not a full fledged wedding, we can adjust the time accordingly. We use umbrellas and our alter on the island is a covered gazebo, for shelter during your actual ceremony. Otherwise, the elopement will go on as planned. Think of romantic photos under umbrellas.
Is there a place to change my clothes?
Yes, we do have a bathroom where you can prepare and change, but we do recommend that you come ready and dressed.
Do you have overnight accommodations and dining?
No, we do not have overnight accommodations and dining, but we do have a list of places that you can stay and eat at.
Do you allow pets?
Yes, as we are a private property, we do allow pets. Dogs must be leashed and poop cleaned up please. It's best to have someone with you who can be in charge of your furry friend.
Can I record or live-stream my wedding?
You are more than welcome to record your ceremony. Please bring a tripod to set up your phone on.
Is there free parking onsite?
Yes, we have room for up to 7-8 cars in our driveway
Do you have decor?
Yes, we have a decorated gazebo, a signing table, and other wedding related props.
Can I bring my own music?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your cellphone and use spotify. We do not have electricity at the ceremony site.
Can we use confetti?
Yes, as long as it biodegradable (such as rice, or specialized biodegradable paper confetti) as we are environmentally conscious and want to protect our natural landscape along with the many animals and birds that frequent our property.
What is the general process to book with you?
Contact us with your wedding date, your name(s), email and phone numbers. We will send you a contract for you to go over and information on how to pay the booking fee. Please note, the reservation fee is $350 and is non-refundable. The reservation fee reserves your elopement day and time, and also reserves our time. We will not advertise availability of this time slot to any other potential clients. The reservation fee must be made at the time of signing the contract in order for your elopement day to be reserved. Payment for the remaining balance is due on the day of your wedding and can be made by e-transfer or cash. Please note HST is applicable. Unfortunately we do not accept credit card payments at this time.
After booking, our officiant, Joanne, will reach out to you to discuss your vows.
Do you book more than one elopement per day?
Yes, we may book more than one elopement per day a few hours apart.
What is your cancellation policy?
Should you need to cancel your reservations, your reservation fee is non-refundable. However, if we can fill your day/time with another elopement, your reservation fee will be returned.
Do you have insurance?
Most definitely. We are fully insured.
Do you allow smoking on the property?
